Sonic Cult
Sonic Cult emerged in the early 1990s as the creative vision of guitarist Øssi Wika. Conceived during a period of seismic shifts in the musical and cultural landscape, the project sought to blend industrial-tinged metal with the expansive, experimental spirit of 70s psychedelic hard rock. Operating as a solo endeavor, Sonic Cult was Wika’s laboratory for exploring new sounds and ideas, resulting in a collection of raw, self-produced 4-track demos recorded between 1990 and 1992. Though it never evolved into a full band, the project stands as a snapshot of Wika’s search for a bold, innovative direction during a transformative era in music.
Øssi Wika is now in the process of resurrecting the original Sonic Cult demos, meticulously re-recording and reimagining the music to bring it into the present day. These recordings, once confined to 4-track cassette tapes, are being given a new life with modern production techniques while staying true to the raw energy and experimental spirit of the originals. The project aims to finally share this chapter of Wika’s creative journey with a wider audience. For updates and more information, visit Sonic Cult's official website.
